Santanyí, like Babel, is a world city where, beyond tourists and mainly Western European residents, a historically local population rubs shoulders, as well as many foreign workers often from South America, Eastern Europe , and to a lesser extent from North Africa. One of the first missions of the Babel Project, including in terms of timing, will therefore be to forge lasting links with these “permanent” actors. This could take place through schools, associations, the team in charge of the Mondragó Natural Park as well as the contractors in the building industry which represents a considerable part of the local activity. The preparatory time for Babel Mallorca buildings’ renovation and extension works will be devoted to getting in touch with these important local actors and to the search for possible collaborations at the service of the local community.
